EF Brisbane is one of the best school's I have ever been a part of. The Staff and teachers are all very professional and passionate. I love the location and the ease of access using the public transport. The activities staff are highly entertaining and always have lots of fun stuff organised. I only wish I could stay longer.
Spending 5 months in Australia with EF Brisbane might have been one of the best decisions I've ever made until now. The atmosphere in class and in the school at all is really open-minded and supportive. It's challenging but at the same time all the efforts you make in class pay off completely. No matter what kind of issue I was struggling with, the school's staff always had an open ear for me. The internship program was a nice alternative after a long time of general English classes and gave me an insight into another aspect of living in Australia. Thank you for that amazing time guys!
I have been stdying here for 10 month, it's my best experiences. There are many great teachers and proglams are awesome. I really want to come back here.
DO NOT HOST FROM THIS SCHOOL. Students are absolute pigs. They mess up your home and the school administration will not do anything about it. They only tell you that "they will speak to the student", which they do but there is no improvement, the student continues their way. Their students are often rude and demanding, especially the older students. This school only pays $112/week, but they demand so much of their host families. When you try to limit the students that waste water, electricity and food, they will complain to the school and say that they feel "unwelcome" because they don't get to do what they want in someone else's home. The younger students have a 10 or 11PM curfew that the school wants you to enforce, but when you tell the student this, they complain, ask to be moved and make you look like the bad person for enforcing a rule that the school came up with. Some students also complain that nobody speaks to them in the home and that they are lonely, when they also do not make the effort to speak to you. Or when you do speak to them, you have to read their replies off their phone or you have to type what you are saying to them on their phone's google translate. So basically you are having a google translate conversation with them. Also most families are working families, just like us, and some of these students will go home late (9PM - midnight), at a time when you are resting from work or already sleeping. And then we have to get up in the early morning to work. How do we speak to people that are not even there?People host international students because they need the extra income, but these people pay so little and ask for too much. When you complain to them that they pay too little for us to let them do as they please, they tell you that the $112/week is meant to cover their weekly expenses of breakfast & dinner 7 days week, electricity and water usage. They tell you that they don't pay as much as other schools because their program is designed for people that want to meet new people from around the world, and give them an good experience. They give you the excuse that the students will be outside the home for most of the day, will go out on trips during the weekend so they won't use that much. Who can actually believe that $112/week can cover all this? Not all students go out, some will stay home all day on the weekend, have several devices plugged in (phone, tablet, laptop), during summer the fan will be on all day, some students take 20-30 minute hot showers or even secretly use the bath tub, will secretly help themselves from food inside your fridge or pantry and take them to school for lunch. ALL FOR $112/WEEK!! ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH IT. A good student is a rare find in this school, we have had probably 2 good students from this school. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HOSTING FROM THIS SCHOOL, THEY ARE NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!
