Car was dirty on collection and when remarked about its lack of cleanliness, was met with a shrug of the shoulders.I know it's cheaper and the cars are older, but this one was very scratched, with fixtures missing inside. The engine was very thirsty and the foot brake took a lot of pressure for it to come to a halt.The collection from the airport took 5 phone calls, going to answerphone 3 times and a different office once.Return trip to the airport we waited around 25mins in the garage and I had to ask twice about th3 transfer, as they were only running one shuttle bus at the time, which was full and couldn't take us after we had dropped off our car.It's cheaper than the on site offerings, but not much else is going for it unfortunately.
- Apex car rental called us up the day we were leaving for our holiday and told us there is no after hour pick up of the car. We were stranded in the airport and my husband had to rush to get the car. - got a car where the headlight wasn't working so spent the next day returning it. - felt like we spent most of our holidays at Apex car rental more than doing touristy stuffPlease do not use them to book your car. They are over priced. Their terms and conditions for damages have high costs. The centre staff doesn't update records on time making the customer run around in circles.
Overall, disappointing. The booking process was simple, the staff member i dealt with was wonderful. However, when we called to advise we arrived at Brisbane airport, it went to a voicemail, i left a message with no call back, while we could see the van to take us to there site drive past (we were not quite down yet) After waiting 25 minutes with no call back, i rang again and got through to a simple "sorry about that we will pick you up now" This is where we signed the paperwork, staff was nice and a simple process. The car had a fowl smell, but we thought it could be a product used in it or anything. After driving the 2 hours to where we were staying, it was obvious there was a bubble in a tire and very rough on the highway, i thought i should ring them to advise, but again, no answer, i left a message. The paperwork showed the tire pressures were all 38psi (too high for a small car) but the fronts were 28 and the rear 38, i had to put it all to 32psi and it helped. The handbrake needed adjusting it was useless. After a couple more days driving from Noosa to the Gold Coast, it was obvious that someone had vomited or spilled something and the smell was horrendous, after the car was sitting there overnight we had to have windows down for the first 20 minutes of the trip. I attempted to ring about this as the theme parks we were visiting wasn't far from the rental place and was hoping for a swap or fix, but again, no answer, voicemail not left as it seemed pointless. Upon returning the car, we were served by the same lady, again lovely, but she noticed the breaks on moving it, but didn't say anything more to us as she was busy and on the phone when we were leaving. She is the only reason for the 2 star, not the one. The car drove fine, the procedure was fine, but getting through to them seemed impossible and very little follow up when i did ring. The car was also below standard with the clean, not bad enough to leave a bad review, but previous people obviously had a GPS on the windscreen and oily hands moving it, i had to clean that once at our accommodation.Overall, i wont use them again simply because these minor problems could have been easily resolved with a small follow up.
Really good car for a very reasonable price. Picked up in Brisbane and dropped off in Sydney both had free shuttle to/from the airport. All easy and the toll charges came off our credit card as planned.
Great experience with Apex rental cars and the Brisbane airport depot. Very friendly and helpful staff, easy communication, easy drop off and pick up. Would definitely recommend and rent again. Thank you!
