Absolutely terrible customer service, the lady was rude from the start and not wanting to understand what I was explaining. She also said that 90% of people she sees about the visas she "declines them as she said the people don't read the website"- she then showed a piece of paper that stated information that i had not at all seen on the website. maybe if 90% of people do not have the right information it means the website does not state clearly the correct information.
Very friendly and efficient staff. I made an appointment online, arrived on time with the forms completed and passport photos. I gave the papers to the consulate officer, and was told to wait 20 minutes. I went for a coffee and when I came back my new passport was ready for collection. Fantastic! Thank you so much!

I know some of the past reviews have been unfavourable but my experience today was the opposite. I found the staff to be friendly, very efficient and my passport renewal was completed quickly and without fuss. I also found that they were happy to answer questions not related to the passport process even though they werent obliged to and noticed that they did the same for the other people. Im not discrediting past reviewers experiences however as anything to do with passports/visas can be stressful especially if they are time sensitive and the process is not always that straight forward.
It takes a month to get an appointment and only if the reservation system works as it should. When we finally got a chance to see an official we explained that we intended to sail a yacht along the Italian coast but they refused to grant us a visa unless we were able to show them invoices for the various anchorages that we would stay at each night. No amount of discussion about the issues of storms could convince them that this was not practical and when I told them that I could only give them suggested ports and maybe some invoices they said that this would be lying and they would not allow this. The Italian coast is one of the most beautiful in the world and the people at the Visa section seem to be of the opinion that no foreigners should be allowed to visit. This is the worst experience I have ever had.
